'It's like they never miss a pass': Swansea's Ethan Galbraith continues contest with Manchester City.

Ethan Galbraith can't help but smile as he recalls the dramatic closing stages of Swansea's remarkable turnaround triumph against Nottingham Forest in the EFL Cup. The game culminated with Galbraith temporarily wearing a spectator's eyewear after the post-goal scrum.

During the final moments of stoppage time, Galbraith rattled the woodwork with a speculative effort from outside the box, and Cameron Burgess promptly converted the rebound before racing off toward the home end to revel in the moment, with supporters swarming the players.

Extraordinary Turnaround

The victory sealed an unbelievable comeback given Swansea had been behind 2-0 midway through the final 45 minutes. In the delirium, there was some minor mishaps. He shared, "There was a supporter trying to get our attention and Josh Key and I were wondering: 'What's he on about here?' Then we noticed the glasses. It was a funny incident putting them on. We are on the pitch as athletes but we're people, too, so to have a joke with the fans is always good."

Pep Guardiola Test

The result secured a next round game at home against Manchester City on Wednesday, a club Galbraith came close against at the same stage of the FA Cup with his former club in February. The athletic midfielder had arguably the best view when his former team took the lead in remarkable manner, with the attacker's volley from about long distance going in via the bar and the City goalkeeper. Many argued that it was recorded as an own goal.

"You would have wished they would've credited him for taking the effort on from that distance," stated Galbraith, who began the game centrally before moving to right defensive wing after the team changed tactics. That meant getting to grips with Jack Grealish, with whom he swapped shirts, and the winger was among the City players who complimented the way Orient attacked the game.

Opponent's Class

"Fitness-wise they are outstanding but even the fundamentals and simple things, they can just perform consistently," the midfielder notes. "It appears that they never miss a pass and they are adept at control and take the sting out of a game. You can feel you're doing well and then suddenly they will just fizz a pass between defenders without you even spotting it. You have to be switched on every second of the game. It requires a strong mentality and concentration just to keep pace."

New Chapter

The club were keen on Galbraith in January and fought off rivals to bring him in in the summer in a significant move. He made a name as a crowd pleaser across multiple campaigns at Orient and has rapidly achieved similar status in south Wales. At his previous team he joined forces once more with his former manager, who earlier gave Galbraith his initial sustained opportunity in senior football on loan at a League One side from Old Trafford. Then came a loan at fourth-tier Salford City, before he permanently left his boyhood club.

Growth Journey

"I was perhaps a bit naive going into professional soccer. I think many athletes would say development squad matches is completely distinct. Sometimes it seems possession is exchanged without real physicality. There's not many tackles or duels. Once you start playing professional matches you have to learn quickly."

Country Call-ups

He has shown that development for both domestically and internationally, performing well for his national side, who are fighting to qualify for the international competition next summer via the playoffs and for whom he has been selected in the past five games, including home and away encounters against a football powerhouse. The ex-coach, Galbraith's former international manager, gave him the ultimate compliment, saying he was Northern Ireland's "midfield general" given how he manipulates the ball and his eye for a decisive through ball.

Humble Beginnings

This represents an incredible journey for the youngster from the local area in the Belfast suburb, just outside Belfast, who grew up watching his dad, the elder Galbraith, also a central player, play for his father's team.

Manchester United Experience

Galbraith's only game for United came in Kazakhstan in 2019, a continental tournament trip to the host city, where they competed on an artificial pitch and the stadium roof was sealed owing to conditions of freezing cold. "It was a lengthy journey and it was cold out there," he comments, smiling. "The preceding week, the academy prospects worked out jointly, so that helped us acclimatise. Just to accompany the senior squad and make an appearance at the end was incredible."

Leaving United

How hard was it to move on from Old Trafford, the club he joined from Linfield aged a teenager? "It was relatively straightforward, because I arrived at the moment where I understood I couldn't establish myself at the top level. I'm very appreciative for the time I spent there but it reached a stage where I felt I needed to go my own route, drop down the leagues and play first-team games. Now I'm slowly working my way back up."

Life in Swansea

It is the middle of the day at Swansea's Fairwood training base but Galbraith has an appointment at late afternoon: a learner's exam, another step towards getting on the road. Prior to relocating to the local area, the 24-year-old was a regular in Swansea's nicknamed team minibus, a team vehicle driven by academy staff, the transport team, which ferries players to and from training and matches.

"My companions include the Portuguese player, Ronald, an Ivorian player – a former passenger used to be in it but has started driving. It's enjoyable to socialize with the lads but I'm aiming to be the next one out of the minibus and behind the wheel. Franco is known for his humor; he's constantly causing mischief."

Fan Interactions

When he represented his former club, Galbraith would travel alongside fans on the Tube after starting his journey at the area he lived in. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
